Alongside Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, Jon Bernthal, Wilson Bethel, and Jeremy Earl, Charlie Cox returns to his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil from Marvel’s Netflix television series and previous Marvel Studios films. The series’ development got underway around March 2022. Compared to the Netflix series, the series had a lighter tone and an episodic structure thanks to Corman and Ord, who were hired as lead writers by May. In July, the first season of Born Again, which would consist of 18 episodes, was revealed. Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s “Born Again” comic book plot is referenced in the series’ title.
Due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, filming was halted in June after starting in New York in early March 2023. By late September, Marvel Studios made the decision to recast the series, and Corman, Ord, and the original directors were released, though episodes that they had directed were still credited to Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd. The following month, Scardapane, Benson, and Moorhead were brought on board, and the strategy shifted to one that was serialized and more closely related to the Netflix series. The first season’s nine episodes began filming in January 2024 and ended in April. In August, a second season was confirmed.
A nine-episode first season of Daredevil: Born Again is slated to debut on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. It will be included in the MCU’s Phase Five.
